Athletistic/Hockey. Former Washington Capitals head coach Bruce Boudreau discussed Capital captain Alexander Ovechkin’s losing streak. Last night, the 38-year-old Russian failed to score in the match against the Carolina Hurricanes (2:1 B) and extended the streak without scoring a goal to 13 matches.
“I still believe Alex will score between 25 and 30 goals this season. I know him too well and I have seen nothing but very good things in the four and a half years he has been under me.
Ovi is now going through a difficult period in his career and has not scored in 13 matches. One important thing I noticed while watching Washington games: When the team scores, Ovechkin continues to cheer as if he had scored himself. I think it’s great.
I believe if he scores 25-30 goals, he will be able to catch up with Gretzky in the future. If he scores 11 goals this year or something like that, he’ll start to wonder if he can do it or not. But I have complete confidence in Ovechkin. I always believed in him. So I think he’ll continue the chase,” Boudreau said on NHL Network.
Alexander Ovechkin has been playing in the NHL since October 2005. During this time, he managed to score 827 goals, ranking second in the list of the best snipers in the history of the league. Wayne Gretzky scored 894 accurate shots in his career.
