“We know who is in which place, there is nothing surprising here” – Gusev on Dynamo’s power play

Moscow forwardDynamo » Nikita Gusev explained why his team is converting the power play well this season in the Fonbet KHL Championship.

This season in the KHL, Dynamo Moscow’s power play conversion rate is 32% (48 goals in 150 instances of power play). At the moment, this is an absolute record in the KHL. Compared to the NHL, the best result was achieved by the Edmonton Oilers club in the 2022/23 season (32.4%).

Dynamo Moscow converted all four of their attempts in the match against CSKA on Tuesday (4:1).

– When was the last time you saw your team score four out of four power plays in a game?

— In my opinion, in the match against Sochi we also scored four power plays. But it appears there were other attempts.

– But now Jordan Weal hasn’t played anymore. But most Dynamo still ran like clockwork. How does this work?

“We almost all know who is where and who is where. »And in training we work on this element. So there is nothing surprising here.

– This is a proven mechanism for you.

– Most of us know what to do. And we train that.

— You beat CSKA with a score of 4:1 not only now, but also on September 13. Can you say that the Army team is a practical opponent for you this season?

— That and this match went well. I can’t say anything more about this. I hope next time everything goes exactly the same way.

— You played your 500th game in the regular KHL championships and made your 300th assist. What does all this mean to you?

“You need to register,” someone suggested to Gusev from behind.

– Actually, overall, these are just numbers. And we have to try to help the team so that they win,” Gusev said.

— How do you like the atmosphere? Are you happy that the championship is back?

– Yes of course. We rested a bit and started again. And now, with new strength, we are ready to play further. During the break, I traveled to St. Petersburg for the KHL All-Star Game. Then I rested at home, and that’s it. I didn’t have much time.

— Do you understand that the most important part of the season begins now?

“I have enough strength, I’m ready.” In general, you have to approach the playoffs well. Everyone understands this. We’re going to try to make everything work for us in the playoffs as well.

— Are you going to overtake Vladimir Tkachev in points?

– I have no such goal. My goal is to help the team in every match,” reports the correspondent, according to Gusev’s words.

Dynamo Moscow is second in the Western Conference with 58 points in 41 matches.
