Russian attacker Washington Capitals Alexander Ovechkin admitted he was disappointed because of his long NHL goalless streak.
The 38-year-old forward has not scored in the last 13 games of the NHL regular season, an anti-record streak for a forward in his career. The Russian ranks second in the list of the best snipers in the history of the NHL with 827 goals, according to this indicator he is second only to Canadian Wayne Gretzky, who has 894 goals.
– I don’t know what’s going on. I have some really good chances, but sometimes it’s just a period where you’re holding the stick too tight because you haven’t scored or something. Sooner or later it will happen.
It’s a disappointment for me and for everyone. We don’t score as many goals as we used to and I don’t know if I should blame the system or something else. We play hockey. We must create chances and opportunities for ourselves and for our teammates.
The most important thing is to score points and win matches. It’s better to make the playoffs than to score 20 goals and drop out of the competition. If I don’t score, I have to do something else to help the team win. “I think now everyone knows who we are and how we should play,” Ovechkin told the NHL’s official website.
This season Ovechkin appeared in 28 NHL games, in which he recorded five goals and 12 assists.
