The 38-year-old, in 19:01 of playing time, scored an assist, had five shots on target and made a power shot, but failed to clear compatriot Semyon Varlamov’s goal. Thus, for the 14th consecutive game, Ovechkin left the ice without a goal. The last time the Great Eight scored was Nov. 19 in a 4-3 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Alexander Ovechkin scored 18 (5+13) points in the “goal+pass” system in 29 matches. Washington is in eighth place in the Eastern Conference standings with 36 points after 29 matches.
