Athletistic/Hockey. Last night, Washington Capitals captain and forward Alexander Ovechkin helped his team defeat the New York Islanders (3:2 in overtime) in an NHL regular season home game. The 38-year-old Russian became the author of the decisive pass at the time of the decisive goal.
This helped Ovechkin surpass legendary Canadian forward Jerome Iginla and move clearly into 68th place on the list of best assists in NHL history. Alexander currently has 676 assists to his name. Wayne Gretzky (1963) occupies by far the first place in this indicator, Ron Francis comes second (1249) and Mark Messier (1193) is third.
Alexander Ovechkin has been playing in the NHL since 2005. He played his entire career in North America for Washington. In 2018, he helped the Capitals win the Stanley Cup.
