Double Olympic champion, seven times world champion Vyacheslav Fetisov on the air of the show “There is a subject!” on , he answered questions about what victory means to him in a broader sense and what homeland is.
— What does victory mean to you in the broad sense? And when will it be?
— It is not easy to achieve victory. It is very difficult to repeat it. And live with the desire to win, that’s the goal! I grew up in the team, I understand what we are talking about. Firstly, it is a colossal job. It’s self-sacrifice in the name of success. Young people sometimes want everything now. But that doesn’t happen, you have to be patient. You will then receive with pleasure all the fruits of your successes and you will be proud of yourself and of your friends. It’s a huge dedication. It’s a brotherhood within the team. It is respect for elders, for your family, for the people who worry and support you today. For me, the victory is a kind of symbol of what we need to focus on. It is impossible to achieve victories if you do not set big goals for yourself.
– What is the Fatherland?
— My homeland is, above all, my family. This is my land, my friends, the people who live in my country and, of course, my president, who today embodies both patriotism and the desire to be first, understands his responsibility. Therefore, I believe that all these fairly clear principles are for me the definition of my country, my homeland, my family.
Our land is extremely rich not only in natural resources, but above all in inhabitants, from Chukotka to Kaliningrad. I travel a lot and I can say that we are cool. We have a fantastic and cool future if we want it ourselves. And apparently we are moving in this direction,” Fetisov said on .
