Spartak forward Egor Filin shared his emotions of playing in the same team as the Olympic champion Ilya Kovalchuk .
On Sunday “Spartacus” defeated Kunlun in the regular season match of the Fonbet KHL Championship with a score of 5:2. For Kovalchuk, this meeting was the first after his return to the KHL, he scored into an empty net at the end of the game. The 40-year-old forward has not played professional hockey since winning the Gagarin Cup with Avangard as captain in April 2021.
– It’s nice to play with a legend. As a kid, I watched the highlights of Kovalchuk’s game, his goal (at the World Cup) in Quebec. And now we play on the same team. He constantly gives advice and I listen to him. It adds confidence to the team,” Filin said, as quoted by RB Sport.
