Colorado Avalanche president of hockey operations Joe Sakic has commented on signing Russian forward Valery Nichushkin to a new long-term contract. The agreement is for eight years.
– Signing a long-term contract with Nichushkin was our top priority this offseason. He could become one of the most sought after forwards in the free agent market. He is a big, strong, fast and tenacious winger.
Nichushkin is a humble person and a great teammate. It is very important for the team, – the official website of Colorado quotes Sakic.
At the end of the regular season, the striker played 62 games, during which he scored 25 goals and made 27 assists. In 20 playoff games, he has 15 (9+6) points. Nichushkin as part of Colorado won the Stanley Cup.
