Athletistic / Hockey. The KHL press service reported that Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod signed a contract with 50-year-old goalkeeper Nikolai Khabibulin. The agreement runs until the end of the season.

SKA beat CSKA cleanly in a KHL match

Khabibulin serves as Torpedo’s goalkeeping coach. He is a 1992 Olympic champion and Stanley Cup winner in 2004 with Tampa Bay. Khabibulin also holds the record for most NHL appearances among Russian goaltenders. He played 799 matches in the league.

Note that Khabibulin will not become the oldest player in KHL history. In December 2009, Vyacheslav Fetisov played for CSKA. He was then 51 years old.
