CSKA defender Colby Williams said he enjoys learning about Russia and the Kontinental Hockey League.
The hockey player started this season at Admiral. The Canadian played 36 matches in the Fonbet KHL Championship and provided seven assists.
— Most of the season I’m alone, but in December a girl came to see me, it’s great. We spend time together between matches, walking around the city. It’s his first time in Russia, so it’s a special time for both of us as we explore Moscow. She looks beautiful at Christmas. We want to do everything on time and now, after the interview, we will walk through the streets, admire the lights, New Year trees and other decorations. It’s amazing and the buildings here are so majestic: no matter where you go, you’ll always see something new. We have already seen Red Square, St. Basil’s Cathedral, walked along the soaring bridge, visited several cathedrals, walked near the university and looked at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. We usually walk everywhere.
We don’t have much time, but we train almost every day and often go on field trips. But already that year I decided that in my free time I would walk and explore cities. Even taking into account the constant changing time zones with the Admiral, I still tried to take a walk in the evening, at least see a little bit of each city we played in, Google something. A hockey career is short and you don’t know when you’ll get the chance to visit these places again. I like learning new things, discovering the KHL and Russia. It’s very cool and I don’t want to regret years later that I only visited arenas and hotels. I really enjoy the chance to see each city. When I come to Russia, the first thing that comes to mind is Moscow and St. Petersburg, but there are many other beautiful cities in the center and east of the country, such as Yaroslavl, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan. It’s great to see them live!
It’s always nice to be in the city at the start of the season, when the weather is nice and you can walk until late. In Vladivostok in September you can still swim and walk along the embankment. It’s very cool there in autumn! Kazan is also a very beautiful city, full of life. Nizhny Novgorod has a beautiful embankment promenade, wonderful historic cobbled streets, many restaurants and cafes in the center. Nizhni made the biggest impression on me this year,” Williams said as quoted by “Championship”.
