Ovechkin scored a goal against Nashville in the second period, the puck being the forward’s 829th career goal. Late in the third period, Ovechkin scored the second goal, but the goal was overturned after a video review. In the shootout, Ovechkin did not convert his attempt.
Ovechkin, 38, ranks second on the league’s all-time goalscoring list with 829 goals, 65 behind Canada’s Wayne Gretzky (894).
