The top 3 included Daniil Trakht and Sergei Babinets
Hockey Federation of Ukraine (FHU) named the best hockey player in the country based on the results of the outgoing year. Recognition was awarded Igor Merezhkodefender of the Slovak Spisski and captain of the national Ukrainian national team.
During a large-scale referendum, which was attended by specialists, functionaries, as well as journalists/bloggers covering hockey topics, and ordinary fans, a rating of the best hockey players in Ukraine for 2023 was compiled.
According to the voting results, Merezhko scored 126 points, almost twice ahead of Daniil Trakht from Finnish Lukko. The third place was taken by the representative of the Kyiv Sokol Sergei Babinets.
The Ukrainian national hockey team will soon start qualifying for the 2026 Olympic Games. The blue-yellows will play against the teams of Poland, South Korea and Estonia in the third round of qualifying. The matches of this quartet will be held in Sosnowiec, Poland, from February 8 to 11, 2024.
