Roman Rotenberg admitted that it was a surprise for him to receive an award for merit in the development of physical culture and sport

Head Coach of Saint Petersburg Hockey Club S.K.A. Romain Rotenberg in his Telegram he said that it was a surprise for him to receive an honorary badge “For merits in the development of physical culture and sports”.

— Glad to receive this honorary award. For me, it was a huge surprise. I am very happy that the ministry highly appreciated my contribution to the development of physical culture and sports in the country. For me, it’s a big motivation and a big responsibility to keep working hard and not stop there.

Hockey is above all a team sport and all the achievements of a player, coach or manager are always the result of teamwork. I consider the badge of honor “For merits in the development of physical culture and sport” as recognition of the work of our great team. Of course, there is a long list of those I would like to thank today. Thanks to the Ministry of Sports and Oleg Vasilievich Matytsin for their attention to our projects and their great appreciation – it motivates us to work even harder. Thanks to the Gazprom group of companies and Alexey Borisovich Miller for their constant support and willingness to devote so much time to the development of sport in the country.

Thank you to the entire team we work side by side with every day, like-minded people, fellow seniors who will always help with advice and of course the players who work hard on the ice and beyond, carrying the proud title of professional athletes and for whom the word patriotism is not an empty word. .

Popularizing hockey in the country, productive work with young people, building rinks and arenas, and more recently, we launched a brand new discipline, 3×3 hockey, and successfully introduced it to the hockey community.

I will continue to do everything in my power to increase the sporting glory of Russia. We are going in the right direction. Thank you very much for your great trust!

I would also like to congratulate my colleagues who have received such a high distinction. Together we are doing a great thing, making our sport the best not only in the country, but also in the world. Special thanks to my family for their inspiration and support,” Rotenberg wrote.

Since January 2022, Rotenberg has led SKA St. Petersburg. Last season, the Saint Petersburg team, led by a 41-year-old coach, reached the semi-finals of the Gagarin Cup, where they lost in series against CSKA (3-4).

Rotenberg is also vice chairman of the board, vice president and general manager of SKA, member of the board of directors and vice chairman of the board of directors of the KHL.
