Former President of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) René Fasel in an interview with , he said he would not stand for election as head of the organization due to his age.
Fasel, confirmed in September as head of the KHL refereeing expert committee, was head of the IIHF from 1994 to 2021. After leaving this position, he was replaced by Luc Tardif. Fasel is now 73 years old.
— Is there a chance that you will run for new elections at the IIHF to once again become president of the international federation and improve the world of hockey?
“I’m too old for this,” Fazel told .
At the moment, Russian teams are not allowed to participate in international tournaments due to the situation in Ukraine.
