Tinkoff, together with the Kontinental Hockey League, launched the first hockey-themed trains in the metros of St. Petersburg and Kazan. The project is being implemented as part of a strategic partnership between the companies: in August 2023, Tinkoff became the very first general partner and official bank of the KHL.
Thematic trains tell interesting facts from the history of the KHL: for example, which match was the most productive in history, how many teams have already participated in the championship, etc. The trains themselves are decorated in Tinkoff colors and their surfaces represent the most famous monuments of the two cities.
Thematic trains will run in Kazan until January 15, 2024, in St. Petersburg until January 24, 2024 on metro lines 2 and 5.
Alexander Lebedinskidirector of business growth at Tinkoff:
“Many of the KHL’s achievements echo those of the Tinkoff Group. For example, Tinkoff and the KHL have their own space records: the Gagarin Cup became the first trophy, a copy of which was in Earth orbit, as did the Tinkoff Premium metal cards during the filming of the film “Challenge” in 2021. The choice of cities is not due to chance: St. Petersburg and Kazan are prominent representatives of the Western and Eastern conferences of the KHL.
Sergei Dobrokhvalovvice-president of the KHL:
“The KHL and Tinkoff continue to implement projects aimed at popularizing hockey throughout the country. The first trains will be launched in Kazan and Saint Petersburg, the choice of cities is not accidental. It was Ak Bars who became the first winner of the Gagarin Cup, and then the first three-time winner, and in St. Petersburg we recently successfully held the Fonbet KHL All-Star Match, which broke all attendance records. The goal of our cooperation is that more and more people discover hockey, and the thematic trains will help talk about our favorite game and inspire new fans to become part of our big and friendly hockey family.
As part of the partnership with the league, Tinkoff will support KHL initiatives aimed at developing and promoting hockey in Russia, and will also carry out large-scale joint marketing activities and special projects throughout the country.
