The admission of the national teams of Russia and Belarus to competitions under the auspices of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) depends on the possibility of holding the competition safely, the press service of the organization reports.
The national teams of Russia and Belarus have been suspended from international competitions for an indefinite period due to the situation in Ukraine since the end of February 2022.
“IIHF head Luc Tardif continues to emphasize that any inclusion of Russia and Belarus in competitions under the auspices of the IIHF depends entirely on the safety of athletes and organizers, as well as the ability of the IIHF to host a tournament in complete safety,” the IIHF press release states.
