American hockey players beat Sweden in the 2024 World Junior Championship final

Team USA won the 2024 IIHF World Junior Championship.

In the final of the tournament which took place in Gothenburg, the American team defeated the Swedish team with a score of 6:2 (1:0, 2:2, 3:0). Among the winners, Isaac Howard scored twice (30th and 35th minutes), Gabriel Perrault (17th), Zeev Bium (42nd), Ryan Leonard (57th) and Rutger McGroarty (37th) scored a goal each. Otto Stenberg (23) and Yonatan Lekkerimäki (40) scored for Sweden.

The American team won the MFM gold medal for the sixth time in its history. For the Swedish team, this is the 12th silver medal in the history of the tournament.

In February 2022, Russian national teams were suspended from participation in official tournaments under the auspices of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF).

The 2025 junior championship will be held in the capital of Canada, Ottawa, and the 2026 World Cup in the United States, in the state of Minnesota, in the cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul.
