The Russian hockey player scored an assist, which became the 680th in his career, in the regular season match against Carolina (2:6). The leader in the number of assists is Wayne Gretzky (1963), the second is Ron Francis (1249), the third is Mark Messier (1193).
Ovechkin, 38, ranks second on the league’s all-time goalscoring list with 830 goals, 64 behind Canada’s Wayne Gretzky (894).
