Front SKA Vasily Glotov believes Washington Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin capable of breaking a record Wayne Gretzky and become the top scorer in the history of the National Hockey League (NHL).
Ovechkin, 38, ranks second on the league’s all-time goalscoring list with 830 goals, 64 behind Canada’s Wayne Gretzky (894).
“Ovechkin will succeed in this conflict, I am more than sure.” With our character – unbending, strong. He sees the goal and goes towards it. It doesn’t matter how things go for him this season. He always does his job.
– They say that Ovechkin no longer has the same movement, the same speed, he only scores on the spot.
– He’s fine, stop. He wouldn’t play without moving in the NHL, where people without uniforms immediately give up. Since Ovechkin is playing in this league, it means everything is going well for him.
— Is the Washington captain an example for Russian players?
– Certainly. We must pay tribute to his health and his genes. He went smoothly throughout his career thanks to these qualities. Show his power. But also attitude and professionalism. Ovechkin is a great guy, he keeps himself in shape at this age. This doesn’t surprise me. But in the KHL, people over 30 are, for some reason, called veterans. It’s not clear to me. Previously, I remember, the age of 29 to 30 was considered “the best”. Now they see a 33-year-old and say, “Veteran.” Ovechkin shows that even at his age, you can perform at the highest level,” quotes RB Sport Glotov.
