Agent: “Unfortunately, in the story with Romanov, we are limited in maneuvers”

Agent Dan Milstein spoke about the prospects of a new defense contract Alexandra Romanova in “New York Islanders” .

Montreal traded Romanov, 22, to the Islanders for a first-round pick (13th), which he gave to Chicago in exchange for forward Kirby Duck.

– Of all the Russian clients, I only have to sign Romanov. As you know, Romanov was recently traded from Montreal to the New York Islanders. We have negotiations.

Unfortunately, Sasha will not be allowed to sue for another two years. If you remember, he arrived in the Montreal bubble in 2020, and we managed to burn a year off his rookie contract, which will help make more money and get a one-way deal faster than a two-way rookie contract.

But the downside is that two years – without the right to arbitration. Moreover, Romanov cannot get an offer, that is, he cannot be bought by another club, like Carolina did with Kotkaniemi last year.

I have a great relationship with Islanders general manager Lou Lamorello. We have been working for many years, and recently we signed Ilya Sorokin. I am sure that our negotiations will go well. But, unfortunately, in the story with Romanov, we are somewhat limited in maneuvering,” Milstein told .

Romanov last season played 79 regular season games in the NHL, scored 13 (3+10) points. His contract expired at the end of the season.
