Defender “Pittsburgh » Chris Letang believes that in the match against Arizona he should not have returned the pass in the episode which ended with an own goal.
The NHL regular season meeting ended with a score of 5:2 in favor of Arizona. In the third period, the Russian striker from Pittsburgh Evgeny Malkin participated in an own goal. The Penguins pulled the goaltender in the final 20 minutes, Letang took a back pass to the Russian, who couldn’t process the pass, and the puck flew into the Pittsburgh goal. The goal was attributed to Arizona player Lawson Crouse.
“I should understand things like that better.” You should not return the ball when we have an empty net,” Letang said, as quoted by the NHL press service.
Pittsburgh is in 12th place in the Eastern Conference standings with 48 points. Arizona has 49 points and 9th place in the West.
