Russian goaltender “Toronto” Ilya Samsonov was recognized as the third star of the last match of the National Hockey League.
In the match against Winnipeg (1:0 OT), the Russian stopped all 32 shots on his own goal, thus marking his second shutout of the season. Samsonov returned to the lineup after going through the waiver draft and being “exiled” to the AHL farm club.
The second star of the day was Florida forward Sam Rinehart, whose goal and assist helped the team beat Arizona (6:2).
The best player of the day was Colorado’s Nathan MacKinnon. In the match against Washington (6:2), the Canadian scored 5 (4+1) points, scoring in poker, and with 82 performance points he led the race for NHL scorers, ahead of Russian Nikita Kucherov (80) from Tampa.
