Spartak forward Alexander Belyaev in a conversation with , he commented on the episode of his expulsion for hitting a Dynamo player with his stick Ilya Kablukov in a KHL game.
On Saturday, Dynamo lost on penalties to Spartak with a score of 3:4. On Tuesday, the “blue and white” lost to “Spartak” with a score of 3:6. In the 30th minute, Belyaev was sent off for two minutes for hitting Kablukov with his stick.
—How did you manage to win without nine people in the core?
— I always said that we had a team of character. It doesn’t matter who flies out due to injuries. We have someone to play for. It all starts with the training process and ends with the game. We fight, we understand the state of mind of Dynamo after the previous derby. They were mad at us. But we played in an organized manner and didn’t allow ourselves to do anything with the same force. And that is the key to success.
– Why did you hit Kablukov on the bells?
“I’ll say it straight away: I didn’t give anything to anyone.” Neither voluntarily nor intentionally. It turns out that I wanted to raise the stick and hit him in the calf. In the video it looked like it was between my legs. But it seemed to me that acting skills played a more important role here.
— You were surprised in this episode.
– Well, yes, such a moment was sucked out of nowhere. It was even more unpleasant for me that the players acted like this. And then the judge came and explained everything. There, everything was at the limit, two minutes for a blow to the hands. I think they will still consider it,” Belyaev told .
Spartak, with 74 points in 57 matches, ranks fourth in the KHL Western Conference standings.
