Chelyabinsk “Traktor” defeated Omsk “Avangard” (5:4) in a productive match of the Fonbet KHL championship.
Among the Omsk team, Vladimir Tkachev, Tomas Yurcho, Damir Sharipzyanov and Reed Boucher stood out. Traktor responded with goals from Sergei Kalinin, Alexander Rykov, Nikita Soshnikov and Vitaly Kravtsov.
Traktor’s winning goal was Maxim Shabanov’s, scored in the 47th minute in lacrosse style – the player lifted the puck on the hook of his stick behind the goal and threw it into the net.
Avangard, who secured their participation in the KHL playoffs on Sunday thanks to Amur’s defeat against Metallurg, is second in the Eastern Conference standings with 79 points. Traktor (70) wins its fourth consecutive victory and climbs to 4th place by beating Avtomobilist.
In another meeting, Ak Bars won an away victory against Barys (3:1) thanks to goals from Dmitry Yudin, Kirill Semenov and Mitchell Miller. The hosts responded with a goal from David Sklenicka.
“Ak Bars” scored 68 points and is 6th in the Eastern Conference, “Barys” (44) lost its fifth consecutive match and closes the ranking in the East.
