Athletistic / Hockey. The Tampa Bay Lightning struggled to get defenseman Mikhail Sergachev back into action. The Lightning are unable to activate his contract from the Long-Term Injured List (LTIR) due to salary cap issues.
With defenseman Haydn Fleury returning from LTIR, Tampa Bay has $8.325 million in cap space, according to CapFriendly. That’s $175,000 less than the amount that would be enough to remove Mikhail Sergachev from this list. Under the terms of his contract with the Lightning, the 25-year-old Russian earns $8.5 million per season.
Mikhail Sergachev was injured on December 20, 2023 during a match against the Saint-Louis Blues (6: 1). He was placed on the long-term injured list in early January. This season, Sergachev played 33 games in the NHL and scored 19 (2+17) points using the goal+pass system.
