Athletistic / Hockey. Legendary Czech national team goalie Dominik Hasek accused officials of allowing him to play in the KHL. He also explained why he would not return the money earned in Russia.
“I played in the KHL in the 2010/2011 season, but at that time I considered Russia a fairly democratic state. At that time I would never have thought that the story with Crimea, Danbass , etc. would happen. Then not a single politician, official or anyone has yet warned me about the danger or unacceptability of happening in Russia. For this, I condemn first of all the Czech legislators, who established rules which still today allow our citizens to work in Russia. Czech athletes import their work to Russia and create value which this country then uses against us.
Why didn’t I return the money I earned in Russia? I earned them through my work, the club doesn’t owe me anything and I don’t owe them anything either. Personally, I don’t ask them anything because the situation in Russia has changed,” Hasek said according to CNN.
Dominik Hasek played in the KHL in the 2010/2011 season, when he defended the colors of Spartak Moscow.
Since February 2022, Dominik Hasek has constantly criticized Russia, its athletes and the leaders of the NHL. In the summer of 2023 he came to Ukraine.
