Athletistic / Hockey. Spartak forward Ilya Kovalchuk shared his opinion on the prospects of Washington Capitals Russian captain Alexander Ovechkin. The Russian is trying to break the legendary Wayne Gretzky’s record for NHL goals.

The Russian scored 831 goals during regular NHL championships. Gretzky has 894 goals.

Ovechkin is among the top five forwards in the NHL in terms of acceleration.

“In fact, we are in contact often. And I have no doubt that he will beat Gretzky’s record.

Everyone experiences ups and downs when you fail to realize your chances. And so, in every match, he has a good time.

And I’m sure the record will be broken. We will see how long it takes,” Kovalchuk is quoted by Match TV.
