Agent Alexey Dementyev named the condition in which the attacker Washington Capitals Evgeny Kuznetsov could return to the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL).
Kuznetsov has been playing for the capital club since 2014, his contract runs until the end of the 2024/25 season. During the current NHL regular season, the 31-year-old Russian has played 43 games and scored 17 points (6+11) with a utility rating of -11.
— If the exchange of Kuznetsov from Washington takes place, it will be on the latest transfer dates. He will receive the majority of contract funds from the Capitals. The club management will accept the best possible offer.
Kuznetsov still has one year of his NHL contract ahead of him with a significant salary. If the KHL salary cap increases, then his return is likely possible. And in other circumstances, I don’t see it in Russia, even after the contract expires,” Dementyev quotes Metaratings.ru.
Washington selected Kuznetsov in the first round of the 2010 NHL Draft, 26th overall. In total, he scored 568 points (171 goals, 397 assists) in 723 NHL games.
