“We didn’t have any disagreements. Rather, there was a misunderstanding. There were moments that someone didn’t really know. We talked with the fans. Each of us had questions. And everyone answered it sincerely and warmly. There are even more questions that no one has to ask. We are moving forward and doing this all together. We are all in the same boat,” Kovalchuk quotes Izvestia.
In January, the Spartak Ultra supporters association criticized Kovalchuk, recalling his performances at other Russian clubs. This season, 40-year-old Kovalchuk played 13 games in the KHL, scored four goals and had one assist. Ilya signed a contract with the Moscow club until the end of this season.
