Roman Rotenberg commented on Latvia’s ban on the country’s athletes from competing with Russians

Head coach of SKA St. Petersburg and the Russia 25 team Romain Rotenberg told that, unlike Latvians, Russian hockey players are ready to play with any opponent.

On February 1, the Latvian Seimas adopted amendments to the law on sports, according to which Latvians are prohibited from competing with Russians and Belarusians in team sports, regardless of whether these athletes have neutral status.

On Thursday, a cooperation agreement was signed between the administration of the Krasnogorsk urban district and the SKA Academy. The agreement was signed by the head of the municipal district, Dmitry Volkov, and the head coach of SKA, Roman Rotenberg.

— What do you think about the law passed in Latvia prohibiting local teams from playing with Russians?

“But we are ready to play with everyone.” This is why we are developing infrastructure. Our goal is for children to grow up with hockey in their hearts and reach the master level. We are ready to enter the international stage by beating either the Latvians or the Canadians. We have no complexes or prejudices when playing against an opponent,” Rotenberg told .
