The American defenseman, along with his brother Jack Hughes of the New Jersey Devils, selected Kucherov in the NHL All-Star Game draft as number one. The match will take place on February 3 in Toronto (Canada).
— The NHL All-Star Game is always fun because it allows you to meet new people. “We wanted to have Kucherov, who is perhaps the best hockey player in the world, on the team, and we managed to draft him,” Hughes is quoted on the NHL website.
Kucherov leads the NHL regular season scoring list, scoring 85 points (32 goals + 53 assists) in 49 games. With Tampa, the forward won the Stanley Cup twice.
