Former “Torpedo » Nikolai Khabibulin held a training session with the main squad of the Nizhny Novgorod team as a goalkeeper, the press service of the hockey club reports.
Igor Larionov’s team will host Dynamo Moscow in the Fonbet KHL championship match on Friday.
In December, Torpedo signed a contract with Khabibulin until the end of the season. The hockey player, who turned 51 on January 13, could become the oldest goalkeeper in the history of the KHL, surpassing the Czech Dominik Hasek, who played for Spartak Moscow at the age of 46 years and 29 days.
Khabibulin is an Olympic champion and Stanley Cup winner with the Tampa Bay Lightning club.
