Athletistic/Hockey. During the NHL All-Star Game, Tampa forward Nikita Kucherov was far from the best. The Russian didn’t try at all and apparently didn’t really want to be there.
As a result, Kucherov was booed. Nikita actually gave up trying in the middle of the passing challenge, throwing pucks almost randomly in one direction, moving from point to point at a snail’s pace.
Then the noise against Kucherov came again – after missing the puck in the competition for best stickhandling. He had to go back and almost start all over again. According to the results of all competitions, Kucherov found himself in last place.
What was the problem? It is assumed that after coming last in the one-touch shooting challenge, he realized that he was not going to win the million dollars he was supposed to be the winner of all competitions and simply decided to stop trying. And somehow it can be understood.
Here’s how hockey fans reacted to Kucherov’s behavior on social media:
Adam S.:
– Buy Kucherov a plane ticket for Saturday! He has disgraced all of hockey as a sport!
Born in :
– If you don’t want to try, then don’t come at all!
Chris B:
– Kucherov tried as hard as all this action deserves.
Put on President :
“He didn’t sleep all night, and then he just suffered a hangover.”
First of all Due:
– Exactly my first thought when I saw what was happening.
Canceled:
– Kucherov disgraced himself and the entire Tampa Bay team. It was clear that he didn’t care at all.
Orleans Kurtenbach:
– Oh, please don’t start. The guy played a key role in the Lightning’s two championships and leads the league in points this year. If Tampa suddenly decides to give up on Kucherov, every other club in the league will snatch him up.
Joe Musashi:
– To be honest, it’s difficult to blame him for anything. Lately, Star Weekend is an event that no one cares about. It is high time to cancel it and not interrupt the season.
Orleans Kurtenbach:
– Yes, Kucherov didn’t try very hard here, but when it really matters, Nikita always makes the difference. However, I fear he will now get it from the owners of this circus, Bettman and Bill Daly, for not showing interest in their annual charade.
Coopstheone:
– I watched it on TV. Yes, it was a shame…but the same could be said for the entire event. In every sport, organizers are full of ideas for All-Star Games, but the end result is always the same: it’s boring as hell.
@coldfusion167:
– Why participate then? I could give the opportunity to perform to those who really wanted to express themselves!
@kdr_golf:
– That looks pretty bad. Show respect. Or give way to another player…
@CrackBangBoom92:
– Kucherov had a hangover that evening.
@KevinCassella48:
– I’m not going to lie, I found it hilarious. I think he might have been drunk.
@DOC4Hart:
– This harms the reputation of the league…
@mattalecgold:
– To be honest, such things are boring.
In 49 games in the 2023/24 season, Kucherov scored 85 points (32+53) with the Lightning.
Along with Nathan MacKinnon of the Colorado Avalanche, he is considered one of the top contenders for the Hart Trophy in 2024, the NHL’s most prestigious individual award.
