The head coach “Vancouver” Rick Tocquette named Tampa forward Nikita Koucherov winner, talking about the stands booing a Russian hockey player during the NHL All-Star Game.
Tocquette led Quinton Hughes’ team to the NHL All-Star Game, which lost to Toronto forward Auston Matthews’ team (5-6 B) on Saturday and failed to reach the final of the tournament. Kucherov played for Hughes’ team and scored one goal and one assist. Before the match began, fans at the Toronto Arena booed Kucherov, as they had the day before during the main show.
– He liked it. I told Kuch, “I think everyone hates a winner.” This guy is one of the best in the last eight or nine years when it comes to playing under pressure. Every time there’s overtime, every time you need to score, he’s in it. “I’m just amazed at the way he perceives the game,” Tocquette is quoted on the NHL website.
Kucherov is the season leader among NHL scorers, with 85 points (32 goals, 53 assists) in 49 games.
