Double Olympic hockey champion Alexander Kozhevnikov expressed the opinion that in KHL there is no need to have a player support program that works in NHL .
Earlier it became known that Washington forward Evgeny Kuznetsov and Colorado forward Valery Nichushkin will participate in the program.
— I think we have a program similar to that of the NHL. People here just aren’t interested, so it’s not that public. They have this in both basketball and American football. It’s like there’s no control. This is absolutely not the case here, they are monitoring the samples, and it is not done en masse. So we don’t really need the program. We have a lot of good doctors, you can always turn to them. Our people will always help us,” Kojevnikov said, as quoted by Betonmobile.
The NHL’s assistance program helps players treat alcohol or drug addictions, as well as various psychological issues.
