The Capitals’ Russian forward Alexander Ovechkin scored his tenth goal of the season in the seventh minute of the second period.

Ovechkin increased his NHL goal total to 832 and closed the gap on Gretzky’s record to 62 goals. The 38-year-old Russian ranks second on the list of top scorers in league history, followed by Canadian Wayne Gretzky (894).
