Head coach of Neftekhimik Oleg Leontiev said that in the coming years he plans to create a young team with great potential in Nizhnekamsk.
In the fall of 2023, Leontiev extended his contract with “Neftekhimik” . The new agreement with the 53-year-old specialist runs until April 30, 2027.
— When your contract was renewed, what objectives did management set for you?
— We want to build a team with a low average age, but enormous potential. I hope we can do it. It’s simply not interesting to participate in the playoffs,” reports Leontiev, correspondent.
Neftekhimik sits in eighth place in the KHL Eastern Conference standings, having scored 61 points in 60 games, and has yet to secure a playoff spot this season.
