The joint disciplinary chamber of the Russian Hockey Federation (RHF) and the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) announced a break until February 12 during the meeting regarding the Novosibirsk appeal. “Siberia” be deprived of four points in the regular season for violating the limit imposed on foreign players.
In January, the KHL canceled the results of four Siberian matches in the Fonbet KHL Championship and awarded the team technical defeats. At the same time, the Novosibirsk team lost two of the four indicated matches in regular time. Their results therefore remained in force, the club lost four points. The league’s decision was prompted by the request for a single match exceeding the limit established for foreign players. In two meetings with Barys, as well as in matches with Avangard and Avtomobilist, Canadians Andy Andreoff, Taylor Beck, Trevor Murphy and Fedor Gordeev, who have a Russian passport and American sports citizenship, had the status of a foreign player in Sibir . After being deprived of points, the Siberian club appealed to the KHL.
“The joint disciplinary chamber of the FHR and the KHL will continue its meeting at the request of Sibir on February 12,” the KHL press service said in a statement.
At these times, “Siberia” plays an away match with Nizhnekamsk “Neftekhimik”. The Siberian team is in tenth place in the KHL Eastern Conference standings with 58 points, Nizhnekamsk (61) is ninth, and Khabarovsk Amur is eighth (62).
Sibir, in addition to Friday’s match against Neftekhimik, will have six more matches to play this season. The rivals of Sergei Krivokrasov’s team will be Omsk Avangard, Nizhnekamsk Neftekhimik, Togliatti Lada, Moscow CSKA, Ufa Salavat Yulaev and Astana Barys.
