Kazakhstan has submitted a bid to host the 2028 Ice Hockey World Championship, according to a document published on the official website of the International Hockey Federation (IIHF).
Kazakhstan’s candidacy represents two cities: Astana and Almaty. Paris and Lyon (France) are also candidates to host the tournament.
This year, the World Championships will take place in Prague and Ostrava (Czech Republic). In 2025, the World Cup will be held in Stockholm (Sweden) and Herning (Denmark), in 2026 – Zurich and Friborg (Switzerland), in 2027 – Mannheim and Düsseldorf (Germany).
By decision of the IIHF, the Russian team was suspended from participation in competitions under the auspices of the organization. IIHF President Luc Tardif indicated that a decision on whether to extend or cancel the suspension will be made in mid-February 2024.
