Athletistic / Hockey. Early in the morning of February 10 (Moscow time), during the next game of the NHL regular season, the Chicago Blackhawks face the New York Rangers on their ice. Five minutes before the end of regular time, the score was 3:2 in favor of the guests.
At the end of the first period, Indians forward Nick Foligno and Blueshirts goalie Igor Shesterkin were punished with a double minor penalty (2 minutes). The striker and goalkeeper almost came to blows: after a slight contact near Shesterkin’s goal, the Russian first grabbed Foligno and then carelessly hit him with a pancake several times. As a result, the judges decided to exclude both participants in the incident – his teammate Will Killy went to serve a small fine for Igor.
Igor Shesterkin was recognized as the best goaltender of the season in the NHL in the 2021/2022 season. In 2024, he participates in the NHL All-Star Game.
