The Australian Women’s Hockey League (AWIHL) match between Adelaide Rush and Melbourne Ice has been postponed due to carbon monoxide poisoning, according to the Hockey Australia website.
During the meeting which took place on February 10 in Adelaide, many players from both teams fell ill. The injured hockey players were transported to a local hospital with symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning.
“We are concerned about the situation yesterday at the rink. Our thoughts are with all those who suffered. We wish all those injured a speedy recovery. We understand authorities are working with the scene to fully investigate the incident. The AWIHL took immediate and thoughtful action to cancel events and provide support to all players.
“We will review and work with our partners to ensure that all hockey events take place only in a safe environment,” the AWIHL said in a statement.
The next match between these teams, scheduled for February 11, has also been canceled.
