Athletistic / Hockey. Washington Capitals forward TJ Oshie spoke about Capitals captain Alexander Ovechkin’s productive streak. The 38-year-old Russian has scored a goal in each of Washington’s last five matches.
“It’s nice to see a great player make a decision. There’s no doubt that Ovi has a great shot. Alexander does a lot of little things on the ice that help us on defense, and on offense he draws the attention from opposing defenders on him. “He comes back on defense and puts himself in a good position. When all five players on your team do the same thing, that’s the key to success,” Oshie told The Hockey News.
The day before, on February 11, Washington lost in overtime to the Vancouver Canucks (2:3 in overtime) in an NHL regular season home game. Ovechkin, thanks to a goal in this match, reduced the gap with the best sniper in the history of the NHL, Canadian Wayne Gretzky, to 59 goals.
This season, Alexander Ovechkin scored 36 (13+23) points in 48 matches using the goal+pass system.
