The matches in which the only Olympic ticket will be played will be held in late August – early September
International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) officially approved the composition of the groups for the final stage of qualification Olympics 2026.
The Ukrainian national team got into Quartet E, where its opponents will be the teams Latvia, Slovenia And France. Only the group winner will ultimately qualify for the Olympic tournament. The matches of this round will be held in Riga from August 29 to September 1, 2024.
Let us remind you that earlier the draw placed the Belarusian national team in the same qualifying group with the blue-yellows, but the IIHF Council immediately extended the disqualification for the Russian and Belarusian teams for the 2024/25 season.
On February 11, our compatriots made it to the final round of Olympic qualification. Dmitry Khristich’s team won all three matches of the pre-qualifying tournament and finished in first place in Group J.
The compositions of the other two quartets are as follows. Slovakia, Kazakhstan, Austria and Hungary will compete for the only ticket to the Olympic Games in Bratislava. In Aalborg, Denmark, Norway, Great Britain and Japan will compete for an Olympic pass.
