Russian attacker Pittsburgh Penguins Evgeny Malkin declared he was ready to participate in the regular season game NHL against Florida Panthers Wednesday.
Last week, Malkin, 37, missed two team practices.
“I do my best in every match. I don’t play like I did 15 years ago. I want to try to change a little. I know I’m not as fast as I used to be, so I try to play smarter.
I hope to play against Florida, I’m ready. I’m fine, nothing hurts. Don’t worry. Of course I want to score in every game, but at the moment it’s not easy.
We still have a chance to reach the playoffs. The season is not over yet, there are 30 games left. If we win the majority of games, we will have a good chance of making the playoffs. We focus on every game. I believe in myself and in my teammates. “We’re not happy with our situation, but we still have a chance,” Malkin is quoted on the NHL website.
Pittsburgh, with 53 points, ranks 12th in the Eastern Conference standings, seven points out of the playoff zone.
