Athletistic / Hockey. On the night of February 14, the Washington Capitals lost to the Colorado Avalanche (3:6) in an NHL regular season home game. The Capitals were not saved from defeat thanks to a goal from team captain Alexander Ovechkin.
The 38-year-old Russian scored his team’s third goal in the meeting with the Avalanche. In the 49th minute of the match, Ovi gained the numerical majority and scored for the sixth consecutive match, which had not happened to him since December 2018.
Ovechkin’s personal record for the longest goal streak was set by him in the 2005/2006 season, when Alexander made his NHL debut. Then the Russian scored in seven straight regular season matches. This happened in February 2006. After 18 years, the Russian graduate from Dynamo Moscow came closer to his personal best.
This season, Alexander Ovechkin scored 37 points in 49 matches – he scored 14 goals and became the author of 23 assists.
