Athletistic / Hockey. Last night, the Washington Capitals lost at home to the Colorado Avalanche (3:6) in another NHL regular season game. One of the capital’s goals was scored by team captain Alexander Ovechkin.
Ovechkin converted the power play in the 50th minute of the match, making the score 3:4. The 38-year-old Russian scored in his sixth consecutive NHL game, something that hadn’t happened to him in over five years, dating back to December 2018.
Ovi became the third player in NHL history aged 38 or older to have a six-game goal streak. The record holder for this indicator is the legendary American forward Brett Hull, who scored in seven consecutive games for the Detroit Red Wings in the 2003/2004 season.
Ovechkin repeated the feat of Boston Bruins legend Johnny Butsik in the game against Colorado. 49 years ago – in the 1974/1975 season – the Canadian also scored in six consecutive games at an advanced age in hockey.
This season, Alexander Ovechkin scored 37 (14+23) points in 49 matches using the goal+pass system.
