Ice hockey world champion Andrei Zuev believes that the goalkeeper of the Russian national team Ivan Fedotov will not lose his sports skills during his military service.
In July, Fedotov was arrested in St. Petersburg on suspicion of escaping military service, the hockey player was taken to Severodvinsk. As it became known to , the 25-year-old keeper will remain in City in the training unit until the oath is taken. He is expected to be sworn in on August 13.
– What do you think of the situation with Fedotov?
“Of course, it shouldn’t have happened like this. There is both his fault and the agent who is responsible for the player and who receives money for it. I served in the army – I was in the unit for three weeks, then I played in the Sverdlovsk SKA. I would like Fedotov to play for a year at CSKA, then calmly leave for the NHL.
I remember when Ivan first appeared in Traktor. He immediately said that he would go out on the first roles. Good physical data and reaction, they began to trust him – the experience appeared. He does not make unnecessary moves, he works only on the puck, he combines new and old goalkeeper schools, “RB Sport” quotes Zuev.
– If Fedotov misses a year of his army career, will this be a problem for him?
– I do not think so. Sometimes people miss a year because of an injury and then come back. He will train anyway. He has a reserve – by age, by physical condition. At first it will be difficult to get used to the speed, but I don’t think Fedotov will forget how to play hockey in a year.
Fedotov is the silver medalist of the 2022 Olympics, the winner of the Gagarin Cup with CSKA. In May, the goaltender signed a contract with the Philadelphia Flyers club in the NHL.
