“Neftekhimik” announced the departure of Czech defender Lukas Klok.
“We have been in constant contact with Lukas for two and a half months. He had a great desire to continue his career in our team, especially since at the end of last year we signed a new contract with him for both coming seasons. He proved to be a true professional in his field. This was especially evident in the playoff games.
However, at home, Lukash and his family were under great psychological pressure. With him, to the last, we hoped that everything would be settled, calmed down. But, unfortunately, the pressures exerted on him, including threats against his life and family, do not stop to this day.
In this situation, the safety of the hockey player and his family is more important. Therefore, we have reached an agreement to terminate the current contract with Klok. I emphasize that the rights to the player remain with our club. We hope the situation will stabilize over time and Lukash can come back to us,” said club director Igor Larionov.
Last season, Klok became Neftekhimik’s second top scorer in the regular season, scoring 31 points (5+26) in 44 games. In the Gagarin Cup, the defender scored 4 points (1+3) in 4 games.
