Forward “Vancouver” Mikheev shared his expectations for the new KHL season

Offensive “Vancouver” Ilya Mikheev said he considers Kazan “AK Bars” one of the favorites of the new season KHL .

Mikheev signed a four-year contract with the Canucks in July and has been part of the Toronto squad since 2019. In the KHL, the forward played for Avangard Omsk for 5 seasons.

– It is possible to watch the KHL, but the time difference is great, it is not always possible. I would like Avangard to win the Gagarin Cup, Kazan put together a good team, but I will worry about Omsk,” Mikheev said in a Zoom press conference.

Dmitry Ryabykin became Avangard’s new head coach during the offseason, replacing Canadian specialist Bob Hartley.

– It seems to me that Ryabykin has his own vision (of the game). A little untie his hands on the attack, but Bob will leave a few moments. Dmitry Anatolyevich looked at Hartley’s work a lot, thought. Hockey according to Ryabykin? I think it’s hard to say how it will be now. The game in defense more or less should be the same, – said the striker.

Last season, CSKA Moscow became the owners of the Gagarin Cup, Avangard was knocked out in the second round of the playoffs, losing to Metallurg Magnitogorsk.
