The new Secretary General of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), Matti Nurminen, spoke about Russia’s withdrawal from international competitions.
– During the first weeks of my work, we did not contact the Russian Ice Hockey Federation. Neither we are with them nor they are with us. Sometimes the world changes, we leave the doors open. But now the time has not yet come, – Iltalehti quotes Nurminen.
The Finnish civil servant was selected at the end of April from 36 candidates for the post and replaced Gion Veraguta, who held the position on an interim basis.
